Join a guided historical walk from Hollingbourne to Leeds Castle on 29 March 2026 as part of the Heart of Kent Walking Festival. This circular route of approximately 12.2 km (7.5 miles) takes about 4.5 hours including a lunch break and offers splendid views of Leeds Castle from the footpaths that cross the grounds. Please note the walk does not include entry to the castle.
Meet at Hollingbourne Train Station, Eythorne Street, ME17 1TX at 09:15 for a 09:30 start. The terrain is largely flat with a few undulating hills and some stiles, so suitable footwear such as walking boots or sturdy shoes is recommended. Bring a waterproof coat, drinking water, a packed lunch and any personal medication. Dogs are welcome if kept on a lead and remain the responsibility of their owner.
Along the way you will hear stories of medieval pilgrims stopping for shelter on their way to Canterbury and tales of the She Wolf of France laying siege to the castle. The walk is led by Ben Crozier and is suitable for experienced walkers used to a multi-hour route. Car parking charges are not included. The cost for the walk is £7. Cancellation within four days of the event incurs full payment; cancellations outside that window receive a credit valid for 90 days.
