A Very Kentish Murder II: The Man in the Woods returns to The Alex for another immersive evening of local true crime and murder mystery with historian Graham Birrell. Following his hit 2025 show, Birrell brings the audience back to a long forgotten investigation in Kent, presenting the same evidence that was used at the original trial and inviting attendees to act as jury for the night. Expect a gripping blend of local history, forensic detail and dramatic storytelling as you piece together the facts and decide whether the prime suspect is guilty or not guilty.
The case begins on a perfect summer's day when three women leave a country pub and a picnic stop ends in tragedy. The prime suspect had left a disturbing trail of behaviour around the world, centred on an obsession with guns. Over the course of the evening you will examine testimony, artefacts and context to weigh motive and credibility, and to debate competing interpretations of the evidence. This interactive event is ideal for anyone with an interest in Kent history, true crime and participatory theatre. Join Graham Birrell at The Alex for a thoughtful, unsettling and unforgettable night that tests how we judge guilt when the past refuses to be simple.
