Adult Sunday Sailing

Adult Sunday Sailing at Medway Watersports offers regular sessions on the tidal River Medway in Gillingham that are designed to help you practise and refine your sailing skills in a friendly, hands-on environment. Sessions are confidence building and suitable for beginners who will typically start in our lively fleet of Toppers to master the basics before moving on to double-handed boats as skills grow. Instructors keep things safe, relaxed and encouraging so you can learn at your own pace while spending real time on the water.

The sessions are aimed at adults aged 16 and over who are able to launch and recover a boat independently and right a capsized boat without assistance. An instructor will always be close by to guide you and support progression. You will have two full hours on the water, but the full experience includes arriving 30 minutes early to rig your boat and allowing 30 minutes afterwards to de-rig and pack away. When the weather is less favourable the coaching continues with engaging land-based activities that deepen your understanding of sailing techniques and boat handling.

To take part wear old clothes you do not mind getting wet and bring trainers or water shoes; flip-flops and Crocs are not permitted for safety reasons. Also bring a towel and dry clothes for afterwards. Sessions take place at Strand Approach Road, Gillingham, Kent ME7 1TT on the River Medway and are an ideal way to build practical sailing know-how while enjoying time outdoors. Price: £18.
