Adult Sunday Sailing

Join Adult Sunday Sailing on the tidal River Medway for a hands-on session that builds skills, confidence and enjoyment on the water. Sessions are ideal for beginners and improvers alike: you may start in a lively Topper to master the basics and progress to double-handed boats as your technique develops. Experienced instructors stay close by to guide you, keeping activities safe, relaxed and encouraging throughout.

Each booking includes two full hours on the water, with an additional 30 minutes before to rig your boat and 30 minutes afterwards to de-rig and pack away. This extra time helps you learn practical boat handling and shore-based theory so you understand sailing from every angle, and land-based activities continue when conditions make on-water practice difficult.

Who can join: ages 16 and over, able to launch and recover a boat independently and capable of righting a capsize without assistance. An instructor will always be nearby to help you progress at your own pace. What to bring and wear: wear old clothes you do not mind getting wet, bring trainers or water shoes and a towel and dry clothes for afterwards. Flip-flops and Crocs are not permitted and you will not be able to participate without appropriate footwear.

The session meets at Strand Approach Road, Gillingham, Kent ME7 1TT, offering a friendly, structured way to enjoy sailing on the Medway.
