Amphibian Survey

Fri, 10 Apr 2026 19:00 PM - 21:00 PM

Saffron Way, Sittingbourne, ME10 2EX

Overview

Join a guided amphibian survey at Milton Creek Country Park and discover the secret lives of Great Crested Newts and other pond-dwelling species. This hands-on event offers a unique opportunity to observe amphibians as they become active in the water during the mating season, with experienced volunteers on hand to explain identification, behaviour and habitat needs. Ponds have been created and are now managed to encourage newts, frogs, toads and a wide range of pond insects, making the park an ideal spot for nature lovers.

Bring wellies and a torch for pond-side searching, and dress for the weather as some brief walking and muddy areas are possible. Children under 16 are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult, so the survey makes a great family-friendly outdoor activity that combines wildlife watching with a bit of citizen science. The group will meet at Green Porch Close within the country park.

This is a donation event with all monies raised going to the Friends of Milton Creek to support park improvements and future events. If you would like to book for more than one person, please adjust your donation when reserving and follow the confirmation email guidance. Whether you are a keen naturalist or simply curious, the amphibian survey is a rewarding way to experience local wildlife and contribute to conservation in your community.
