Amphibian Survey

Fri, 27 Feb 2026 18:00 PM - 20:00 PM

Saffron Way, Sittingbourne, ME10 2EX

Overview

Join a hands-on amphibian survey at Milton Creek Country Park and help search for Great Crested newts and other local amphibians as they come to the ponds to attract a mate. This friendly community event is ideal for nature lovers who want to learn more about the park's wildlife and the conservation work that supports it. Experienced volunteers will guide you through simple survey techniques and share identification tips.

Bring wellies and a torch, as some pond edges can be muddy and surveys often take place around dusk. The ponds in the park have been created and are carefully managed to encourage newts, frogs, toads and a range of insects, so you will see habitats designed specifically to support these species. Please meet at Green Porch Close before the survey starts so the team can brief everyone and allocate roles.

Children under 16 are welcome but must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, making this a great family-friendly way to spend time outdoors and get kids involved in wildlife monitoring. This is a donation event, with all monies raised going to the Friends of Milton Creek to fund improvements to the park and future events. If you would like to book more than one place, please adjust your donation when booking and reply to the confirmation email with the number in your party.

Whether you are a seasoned surveyor or simply curious, this event offers a hands-on opportunity to learn about amphibian life cycles and contribute to local conservation efforts in Milton Creek Country Park.
