About this event

Join a free family workshop exploring community, gardens and coastal landscapes at IslandWorks, Dockyard Church. Led by artist and spatial designer Lettice Drake, this hands-on session invites participants to imagine and create sea and beach gardens through scale models and dioramas. The workshop is part of the Intertidal Allotment programme, a long-term project by artist Andrew Merritt that aims to create a functional, world-first shoreline community allotment on the Isle of Sheppey. Suitable for all ages, the session is multigenerational and encourages everyone to take part in designing wild and playful coastal planting and habitats.

Please arrive by 1pm to join the full two-hour workshop. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Free snacks and drinks will be provided during the event. Whether you are interested in craft, community-led green spaces or coastal conservation, this workshop offers a creative way to learn, share ideas and build a miniature vision of a shoreline allotment. For more information or accessibility queries, please contact info@cementfields.org.uk. Come and help shape the idea of a community coastal garden while meeting others who care about local landscapes and imaginative public art.
