Fishing for Friendship in West Kent offers welcoming fishing sessions for adults who want to support their mental health and wellbeing, who live with long term health conditions or who are at risk of social isolation. The sessions meet at Mousehole Fishery, Maidstone Rd, Nettlestead ME18 5HR, and are designed for anyone who wants to learn a new skill or improve their fishing technique in a calm outdoor setting.
Qualified coaches are on hand throughout each three hour session to provide practical help, all equipment, bait and licences so you can focus on learning and enjoying the experience. After fishing the group comes together over a cuppa and homemade cake to chat about the day and life in general, creating time to connect and build friendships. Sessions are funded by Live Well Kent and Medway and participants will be encouraged to self refer to enable them to attend future sessions. This is a gentle, social way to try something new, meet others from the local area and take positive steps for mental wellbeing.
