Maidstone Rd, Maidstone, ME18 5HR

Overview

Fishing for Friendship - West Kent offers relaxed, supportive angling sessions for adults seeking to improve their mental health and wellbeing, living with long-term health conditions or at risk of social isolation. The sessions take place at Mousehole Fishery on Maidstone Road in Nettlestead, ME18 5HR, and are designed to be welcoming whether you are new to fishing or already have some experience.

Qualified coaches are on hand to teach and support participants, providing all equipment, bait and licences so you can focus on learning and enjoying the outdoors. Each session includes three hours of fishing beside the water, followed by a friendly group catch-up over a cuppa and homemade cake where people can talk about the day and life in general. The social element is central, helping people make connections and build confidence in a calm, natural setting.

These sessions are funded by Live Well Kent and Medway and aim to reduce social isolation and promote long-term wellbeing. Participants are encouraged to self refer to help secure places in future sessions. Whether you want to learn a new skill, meet others in your community or simply spend time outdoors, Fishing for Friendship provides a gentle, structured opportunity to benefit from fishing and shared company in West Kent.
