Funding Your Work: a guide for photographers is an in-person session for photographers who want practical advice on finding and securing funding. Led by artist Natasha Caruana, the two hour session at Sun Pier House is aimed at people who feel funding is "for other people" or who are not sure how to describe their ideas on an application. Photoworks runs the event in partnership with Sun Pier House as part of the Photography Champions programme.
Natasha Caruana brings experience as an educator and mentor, co-founding Work Show Grow to help creatives build sustainable practices and secure funding. The session will unpack common worries such as fear of rejection or feeling not established enough, and explain what funders are looking for. You will learn how to spot opportunities that fit your practice, how to turn a project idea into clear application language, and receive practical starting points to develop proposals. There will be space for questions and examples from real projects, plus one hot or cold soft drink from the Sun Pier House cafe included. The session is an honest, supportive conversation designed to give photographers at all stages a clearer sense of what funding is, practical next steps, and the confidence to take the first steps towards applying for support.
