Heritage grant funding: from idea to success

Sat, 06 Jun 2026 08:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Medway St, Chatham, ME4 4HF

Overview

Join a free, practical workshop in Medway to learn how to turn an idea for a heritage project into a successful funding bid. Delivered at Sun Pier House, this session is aimed at anyone who works or volunteers in heritage or who has an idea they would like to develop. Whether you are new to grant funding or want to improve your chances of success, this workshop will help you plan and prepare a stronger application.

The session is led by Medway Voluntary Action in partnership with The National Lottery Heritage Fund and covers where to look for funding, what funders look for in an application, effective grant writing and practical tips to improve your bid. You will hear about local support available to help with applications and learn clear steps to develop your project idea into a fundable plan.

The workshop uses a mix of practical exercises, short presentations, question and answer time and group discussion so you can apply what you learn straight away. It is suitable for those just starting out and for people wanting to refine their approach and boost confidence when applying for grants.

Places are free and part of the Medway Heritage Place programme supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. If you have access requirements, please email heritageplace@medway.gov.uk for assistance. Further free skills development sessions will run through 2025 and 2026.
