Join a free, practical workshop designed for anyone wanting to use and contribute to Medway Archives as part of a heritage project. Whether you are new to working with archives or beginning local history research, this session will introduce what an archive is, how to find and use archival sources, and the best ways to collate and submit materials so they meet archival standards. You will learn how to gather content, navigate rules and regulations, and prepare contributions that will be preserved for future generations.
The session is delivered by staff from Medway Archives Centre and is part of the Medway Heritage Place programme funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The workshop forms one of a series of free skills development sessions running throughout 2025 and 2026, created in response to topics suggested by Medway’s heritage community. If you are involved in local projects, community collecting or volunteer research, this practical guidance will help you care for and share local stories with confidence.
Please let organisers know if you have access requirements by emailing heritageplace@medway.gov.uk. A member of staff uses an assistance dog, so please inform us if you have a dog allergy or phobia. For more information about the wider programme and other sessions, explore the Medway Heritage Place skills development programme online.
