Information, Advice, and Guidance / Detached Work

Start your journey into the youth sector with free, practical training in Information, Advice and Guidance and detached youth work. These introduction sessions are run by Medway Youth Service and are ideal for anyone volunteering, working with young people, or joining part time youth work roles in Medway. Each month a different topic will be covered to build your confidence and practical skills.

Sessions take place on the third Tuesday of the month, 6pm to 9pm, at Parkwood Youth Centre. The programme forms the induction training for part time staff and volunteers and offers a welcoming environment to learn core youth work practice, safeguarding basics, and approaches to reaching young people in community settings. You will gain practical tips for detached work, guidance skills and ideas for engaging young people safely and effectively.

These sessions are free to attend and are open to anyone involved with young people in Medway. Places are limited so book early to secure a spot and progress your youth work experience. The events are managed by Medway Youth Service and are being advertised on their behalf by Young Medway.
