Join the Bearsted Repair Café at Madginford Hall for a friendly, community repair session where volunteers help mend electrical items, clothing and textiles, bicycles, jewellery, computers, toys and general household goods. The event is run as part of the Bearsted Climate Action Network and is a great way to learn practical repair skills while reducing waste and keeping items in use for longer.
Our volunteers aim to help people learn to fix their own gadgets rather than provide a free repair service, so please come prepared. Check whether your device is still within warranty as you may be eligible for a free repair, replacement or refund. Backup your data before you arrive and charge up devices, bringing any relevant leads. Expect a helpful diagnosis even if a repair is not immediately possible; often the first visit identifies parts you need to source, and a follow up visit completes the repair.
The café is relaxed and sociable, with tea, coffee and cake provided, and takes place at Madginford Hall, Egremont Road, Bearsted, Maidstone ME15 8LH. The Restart Project reports that over half of devices are successfully fixed at these events, so whether you want to save money, learn new skills or meet neighbours, the Bearsted Repair Café is an accessible, environmentally friendly way to get hands on with repairs.
