Maidstone Home Ed Nature Explorers - Apr/May

Fri, 24 Apr 2026 11:45 AM - 13:45 PM

Overview

Join the Maidstone Home Ed Nature Explorers at Tyland Barn for a hands-on Forest School programme designed for home-educated children aged 4 to 11. These supportive outdoor sessions encourage curiosity, independence and a love of nature while offering plenty of opportunities for exploration and discovery in a beautiful wildlife reserve near Maidstone.

Across a five-week programme, weekly two-hour sessions are led by a Level 3 trained Forest School leader and follow forest school principles with extra activities made possible by the unique site. Children take part in pond dipping, minibeast hunts, den building, supervised fires, nature crafts and other practical tasks that build problem solving, communication, creativity and physical development. Activities are child-led where possible, allowing children to learn at their own pace and develop confidence in wild spaces.

All children must be accompanied by an adult; there is a maximum of four children per adult and a maximum of two adults per child. Sibling tickets are available for age 3 and above, and younger siblings who are not taking part do not need a ticket. Free parking is available at Tyland Barn and there is a nearby bus stop. For questions and bookings contact the organiser by email at forestschool@kentwildlife.org.uk or call 01622 662012. Book early to secure a place and give your family a fun, outdoor learning experience in the Maidstone area.
