Overview

Medway New Voices at Spotlites Theatre in Chatham is an evening of fresh drama and comedy writing, showcasing short plays, sketches and monologues by local and emerging writers. Expect a lively programme of new work performed in an intimate theatre setting, perfect for anyone who enjoys contemporary performance, sharp humour and original storytelling.

The event is presented in association with Medway Play Lab C.I.C, which runs a monthly Creative Writing Masterclass that brings professional writers to the area to lead practical workshops on writing for performance. Contributors and guest tutors have included TV soap writer Sarah Hehir, playwrights Aimee Riddell and Paul Doust, and comedians Tom Crowley and Gemma Arrowsmith, helping to nurture new talent and develop scripts that are ready for the stage.

Tickets are general admission and sold on a pay what you want basis, making this an accessible evening for all. The venue is Spotlites Theatre, 338 High Street, Chatham ME4 4NR. Whether you are a seasoned theatre-goer or curious about new writing, this event offers a great chance to see the next generation of playwrights and performers and to support grassroots theatre in Medway.
