Mid-Kent Astronomical Society meeting and observing

Fri, 27 Mar 2026 20:00 PM - 22:00 PM

Overview

Join the friendly Mid-Kent Astronomical Society for a regular evening of talks, telescope help and practical observing at Bredhurst Village Hall. Sessions usually run from 20:00 to around 22:00 and include a presentation by a guest speaker that is open to non-members. All ages and experience levels are welcome, including complete beginners, so it is an ideal way to learn more about the night sky and meet other stargazers.

Following the talk there is time to chat with MKAS members and, weather permitting, an observing session in the field behind the hall. There is also a telescope workshop in the hall, so if you have a problem with your equipment you are encouraged to bring your telescope along for hands-on advice and demonstrations. A small entrance fee helps to cover refreshments such as tea and coffee.

Note that moonlight and local light pollution affect what you can see. Bredhurst Village Hall is estimated to have light pollution levels similar to an urban location, so the best observing is planned around darker nights. For full details on how to attend, specific dates and booking information, contact the Mid-Kent Astronomical Society directly via email at info@midkentastro.org.uk or visit the society web pages.
