About this event

Mini Museum Explorers: Why Do We Remember? is a gentle, hands-on session for under fives and their parents, grandparents and carers that brings the Royal Engineers Museum collections to life through play, stories, trails, crafts and simple science activities. Held on the second Tuesday of each month during term time from 10am to 11am, these sessions encourage early development, communication skills and curiosity about history and service in an informal, welcoming setting.

On Tuesday 10th November, Minis will hear simple stories and poems that introduce the idea of bravery and service and explore why the poppy is a symbol of remembrance. Children will take part in creative activities using soft materials such as paper and fabric to make their own poppies, place them at the Museum's War Memorial and create a poppy-themed handprint keepsake to take home. Sessions are limited to 20 under fives, so advance booking is required. The cost is A34 per session per child, with discounts available for Snob loyalty card holders and free places for military families. Normal museum admission prices also apply. These short, playful workshops are ideal for families who want a calm, creative introduction to museum objects and local history for very young children.
