Parent/Carer Transition Information Evening

Tue, 28 Apr 2026 15:00 PM - 16:30 PM

Oakwood Park, Maidstone, ME16 0JP

Overview

Join Kent Educational Psychology for a Transition Information Evening focused on Factors that Support Resilience in Children and Young People. This session is aimed at parents and carers of children in Year 5 and Year 6 from local primary schools in the Maidstone area and will take place at St. Simon Stock Catholic School.

Educational Psychologist Dr Miquela Walsh will explain practical approaches and evidence informed factors that promote resilience during the move to secondary school. The talk will cover strategies families can use to support wellbeing and confidence, how schools and professionals work together to help pupils, and signs to watch for during times of change. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and take part in discussion with the speaker and local practitioners.

This event is for parents and carers only and children will not be able to attend. Places may be prioritised for families whose children have additional needs. A range of other transition sessions are also being offered to support Year 6 students as they prepare for secondary school.

Please book a place in advance as entry is by booking only. Attending this evening will help you feel more confident about the next stage in your child’s education and connect you with local support and guidance.
