Rippling Out Further: Poetry, pottery and a cuppa

Sat, 21 Feb 2026 14:30 PM - 15:30 PM

Overview

Join Rippling Out Further: Poetry, pottery and a cuppa, a relaxed, free workshop that brings words and ceramics together in Chatham. This second session of popular poettery invites anyone who missed the first event to decorate a ready-made drinking mug with a favourite phrase, a few lines of verse or a playful word that will brighten morning coffee and last for years.

Ceramic artist Carol Smith will lead the session, demonstrating how to use different glazes and simple decorating techniques. Whether you come with a poetic snippet ready or want to use the supplied writing prompts to create something new, you will be guided through decorating and personalising your mug. After the workshop Carol will fire the pieces so they are dishwasher safe and suitable for everyday use.

The workshop takes place at The Mess Room, Sun Pier House, Medway Street, Chatham ME4 4HF. Places will be allocated firstly to people who have not previously tried this workshop, and anyone who has attended before may request to be added to a waiting list by emailing the organisers. The session is free to attend but spaces are limited, so book early to secure your place and enjoy an hour of creative making, gentle writing and conversation over a cuppa.
