About this event

Experience the long-established Rochester Sweeps Festival in Rochester, United Kingdom, running from 1 May to 4 May 2026. First held in 1981, this four-day celebration has grown into one of the biggest and most famous sweeps festivals in the world, drawing visitors keen to enjoy local tradition and community spirit in historic streets and waterside settings.

The programme offers activities and entertainment for visitors of all ages, with opportunities to explore Rochester's architecture, support local traders and attractions, and soak up a lively festival atmosphere. Expect a varied schedule across the town that celebrates regional character, communal events and seasonal fun, making it an ideal occasion for a short break or day trip in late spring.

Practical information and full listings are published as the festival approaches, and the AnydayGuide entry highlights dates and essential details to help you plan. Tickets can be purchased via a third-party website, so book travel and accommodation early to make the most of the long weekend. Check the official programme for exact times and locations and follow local updates for any changes to the schedule.
