RYA OnBoard Junior Sailing

Experience junior sailing on the tidal River Medway with the RYA OnBoard junior programme, a safe, structured and fun introduction to being on the water. Sessions use a fleet of Toppers to teach the basics before moving into double handlers, and include around two hours on the water. To make the most of the experience please arrive 30 minutes before the published session start time to learn to rig your boat, and allow an additional 30 minutes at the end to de-rig and put equipment away.

Open to young people aged 8 to 18, the programme combines practical sailing with land based activities when the weather is poor, helping participants build life skills such as problem solving, leadership and teamwork. Practical advice for participants includes wearing old clothes and suitable footwear such as trainers or water shoes; flip flops and Crocs are not suitable and you will not be allowed to take part if wearing them. Bring a towel and dry clothes to change into after the session. The venue is Strand Approach Road, Gillingham, Kent ME7 1TT, on the River Medway.
