RYA OnBoard Junior Sailing

Join the RYA OnBoard Junior Sailing programme on the tidal River Medway and discover the fun of learning to sail in a safe, friendly environment. Young sailors start in a fleet of Toppers to learn the basics before progressing to double-handers, with experienced instructors guiding every step. Sessions are designed to be structured and enjoyable, giving participants confidence on the water while keeping safety at the heart of every activity.

Each session includes two hours on the water. To get the most from your time afloat please arrive 30 minutes before the published start so you can learn to rig your own boat. You should also allow a further 30 minutes at the end to de-rig and put the boat away. Please wear old clothes and suitable footwear such as trainers or water shoes. Flip flops and crocs are not suitable and participants wearing them will not be able to take part. Bring a towel and a change of dry clothes.

Open to anyone aged 8 to 18, the OnBoard programme offers land based activities when the weather is poor and promotes wider life skills including problem solving, leadership and teamwork. Sessions are available for a cost of £15 and take place at Strand Approach Road, Gillingham, Kent ME7 1TT. Book early to secure a place and give your child the chance to experience the excitement and calm of being on the water.
