RYA OnBoard Junior Sailing

Join the RYA OnBoard junior sailing sessions on the tidal River Medway and discover the thrill of being on the water in a safe, structured and friendly environment. Open to young people aged 8 to 18, these sessions use a fleet of Toppers to teach sailing basics before progressing to double handlers. The programme emphasises practical skills, confidence and fun while helping participants develop teamwork, problem solving and leadership.

Each session includes two hours on the water. To get the most from your time afloat please arrive 30 minutes before the published start time so you can rig your own boat, and allow a further 30 minutes after the session to de-rig and stow equipment. There will also be some land-based activities during the season, especially when weather conditions limit time on the water.

Please wear old clothes and suitable footwear such as trainers or water shoes, as flip flops and crocs are not acceptable and you will not be able to take part if wearing them. Bring a towel and a change of dry clothes. Sessions take place at Strand Approach Road, Gillingham, Kent ME7 1TT. Book early to secure a place and experience junior sailing on the River Medway with qualified instructors and friendly support staff.
