Join a focused professional development day on Pathological Demand Avoidance on 25 March 2026 at The Endeavour Centre, Strood Academy, Rochester ME2 2SX. This course is designed for school staff, including SENCOs, teachers and teaching assistants working across the primary and secondary range who want practical strategies and a deeper understanding of PDA.
Delivered by Zoe, an experienced Assistant Headteacher and Inclusion Manager, the session draws on more than 25 years in primary education and over a decade as a SENCo. Zoe holds a Masters in Education with a specialism in social, emotional and behavioural needs and has accreditation in visual impairment, autism spectrum disorder and PDA. She is also a trained SEND reviewer and brings evidence informed approaches to support inclusion.
Participants will gain insight into recognising PDA presentations and learn approaches to reduce barriers to learning, support positive engagement and adapt classroom practice. The course emphasises practical techniques for working with pupils, collaboration with colleagues and communicating effectively with parents to create consistent, supportive environments.
Suitable for anyone involved in supporting pupils with additional needs, this course aims to build confidence and provide tools that can be applied immediately in school settings to improve outcomes and inclusion for all learners.
