Silk Painting Workshop

Discover the enchanting art of silk painting in this relaxing 2.5 hour workshop with artist Laura Hollis. Held at the Arts Hub, 2-4 Granada House on Gabriel's Hill in Maidstone, the session is ideal for beginners who want to experiment with vibrant colour and flowing paint on silk. You will begin by practising techniques on a pre-stretched piece of silk, then design and paint your own 7 inch suncatcher to take home.

In the second part of the workshop you will paint a ready printed design for a card that can be framed or given as a personal gift. Bring your own design for the suncatcher if you wish, or choose from the designs provided. Laura, who graduated in 2001 with a degree in Print Media and Surface Design, will guide you through colour mixing and brush control so you can watch the vibrant colours flow in this friendly, supportive environment.

The workshop runs from 10:30 to 13:00 on selected dates, running until Saturday, 28 February 2026. Please do not wear your best clothes as the paints do stain.
