Kent Showground, Maidstone, ME14 3JF
Join the South East IOSH Community at the Kent Event Centre for a compelling session that examines risk the way elite snipers do. This talk explores how highly trained operators perceive danger and make critical decisions under extreme pressure, and it shows how those mindsets and techniques can be applied to safety and awareness in high-hazard industries.
The event combines evidence-based insight with cutting-edge immersive technology. After the presentation, attendees will be invited to a supervised VR experience using authentic footage (not gamification) to explore realistic industrial danger zones from the safety of the event room. The blend of real-world examples and immersive reflection gives a rare, first-hand perspective on hazard recognition and situational awareness.
Topics mapped to IOSH competencies include Horizon scanning (Technical), Risk identification and profiling (Technical) and Innovation and creativity (Behavioural), all at the Innovate and Understand level. Whether you work in operations, safety, asset management or consultancy, you will take away practical approaches to recognise and respond to risk more effectively.
The session is open to members and non-members and is offered free of charge. Spaces are limited, so please inform communities@iosh.com if you cannot attend to allow someone on the waitlist to take your place. If you have dietary, accessibility or other requirements, contact communities@iosh.com in advance so the venue staff can be prepared to assist.
