Supporting Young people with Additional needs is a free, practical training session designed for anyone working or volunteering with young people in Medway. This introductory course is ideal for part time staff, volunteers and those starting out in the youth sector who want to improve their understanding of how to support young people with additional needs in community settings.
The Introduction to Youth Work programme delivers monthly sessions covering different aspects of youth work practice. Each session runs from 6pm to 9pm on the third Tuesday of the month at Parkwood Youth Centre, with each month focusing on a different topic relevant to day-to-day work with young people. The training also forms the induction offer for part time staff and volunteers, ensuring you gain the basic skills and knowledge needed to work confidently and safely.
Sessions are run and managed by Medway Youth Service and are advertised by Young Medway. As this is free to attend, spaces can fill quickly, so it is recommended to reserve your place early. Whether you are beginning your youth work journey or seeking to refresh your skills, this session offers practical guidance, local insight and a supportive environment to learn and develop.
