About this event
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Phantom Raspberry Blower with a riotous stage adaptation of the Spike Milligan and Ronnie Barker classic. Immortalised by The Two Ronnies, this newly adapted play by John Hewer revives the Jack the Ripper parody in a Victorian London full of surreal humour, clever puns and near-the-knuckle ribaldry. Inspector Corner and his faithful sidekick Sergeant Bowles are on the case as the mysterious Phantom causes chaos with his raspberry-jam-packed antics.
Presented by Hambledon Productions with the kind permission of Spike Milligan Productions Ltd and Handles for Forks Ltd, the production serves up quick-fire jokes, absurdism and celebrated wordplay for fans of classic British comedy. The show brings the Phantom back to life for a modern audience while honouring the original 1976 broadcast, with moonlit graveyards, dark alleyways and plenty of comic invention.
Please note this performance will take place at The Faversham Assembly Rooms, Preston Street, Faversham, Kent, ME13 8PG, following the fire at The Alex on New Year?s Eve. For tickets and enquiries contact the Box Office on 01795 591691 or email bookings@thealex.org.uk. Whether you are a long-time fan or new to the Phantom, this lively evening of classic comedy promises laughs and nostalgia in equal measure.
