Join a guided circular walk around the Hoo Peninsula, starting from Lower Upnor. This easy-paced 11 km (6.8 mile) route follows stretches of the Saxon Shore Way through open farmland and along peaceful estuary-side paths, offering wide views across the River Medway and surrounding marshland. With big skies, quiet trails and changing coastal scenery, the walk gives a real sense of space and tranquillity and is ideal for anyone who enjoys countryside walking and coastal landscapes.
The walk meets at Lower Upnor Car Park, Albion Place, Rochester, ME2 4XB (what3words ///cost.fancy.begun) on Sunday 1 March 2026. Please arrive by 09:15 for a 09:30 start. Expect approximately four hours on the route including a lunch break. The walk leader is Max Cornall. Bring suitable footwear such as walking boots or sturdy shoes, a waterproof coat and clothing appropriate for the weather, plus any personal medication. Friendly dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times and owners are responsible for them. Car parking charges are not included. Photos may be taken for promotional purposes; tell the leader on the day if you prefer not to be included. Please note that full payment becomes due if you cancel within four days of the activity. Cancellations made more than four days before the event will receive a credit note valid for 90 days.
