Medway New Voices

Sat, 28 Mar 2026 19:30 PM - 22:30 PM

Overview

Medway New Voices brings an evening of fresh drama and comedy writing to Spotlites Theatre in Chatham on Saturday 28 March. Expect a lively programme of short plays, sketches and monologues by local and emerging writers, performed in an intimate theatre setting that suits contemporary performance, sharp humour and original storytelling. The event is ideal for anyone curious about new work and grassroots theatre in Medway.

The night is presented in association with Medway Play Lab C.I.C, the group behind a monthly Creative Writing Masterclass that brings professional writers to the area to lead practical workshops on writing for performance. Contributors and guest tutors have included TV soap writer Sarah Hehir, playwrights Aimee Riddell and Paul Doust, and comedians Tom Crowley and Gemma Arrowsmith. The programme helps to nurture new talent and develop scripts that are ready for the stage.

Tickets are general admission and sold on a pay what you want basis, making the evening accessible to all. The venue is Spotlites Theatre, 338 High Street, Chatham, ME4 4NR. Tickets can be purchased via the organiser's third party website and you should check the organiser for performance dates and start times. Whether you are a seasoned theatre-goer or new to new writing, this is a great opportunity to see the next generation of playwrights and performers and to support local theatre.
